Diamond Grind Process
Shot blasting is the most cost-effective floor preparation method. However, sometimes it is not desirable to have a semi-rough profile. Shot blasting can also sometimes leave blast lines because we have to overlap slightly to blast 100% of the area. This is normally not an issue for colored coatings, however, shot blasting is usually not a sufficient method to prep for acid stains, dyes or clear sealers.
Diamond grinding can also be a low-cost alternative to expensive overlays for prepping an existing slab for stains and sealers. Diamond grinding also removes many imperfections from the top layer of concrete and "opens-up" the concrete so more of the stain/dye is absorbed into the slab resulting in much more uniform and vibrant colors for your floors.
All our prices include grinding edges and we can grind up to an 1/4" to any vertical surface. There may be an additional charge to grind closer to walls/etc. We prefer to have the baseboard molding removed prior to grinding, however, quarter round molding will usually cover up any areas we are unable to grind along walls.
